Hudson Valley Reefkeepers was formed in 2003 by a group of reef aquarists
from the Hudson Valley. Since the formation of the group,
our membership
has increased in numbers and experiences rapidly.
Our members come from throughout the Hudson Valley, including Dutchess,
Orange, Ulster, Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, and Columbia counties.
The group's
experience ranges from professionals to "newbies".
The common tie for our membership (besides geography) is the advancement
of the reef aquaria hobby. By sharing our experiences,
we help one
another
by providing advice to make our reefs the best they
can be (and hopefully,
helping people avoid the same mistakes we made!).
As a group focused on responsible husbandry, we also share the goal
of natural reef conservation and preservation, so that others may be
able to enjoy this rewarding hobby.
The group generally meets monthly, at an informal gathering. To find
out when the next meeting will be, check out the events section. These
meetings are a great way to get to know other members, as well as to
get some tips on the "how-to's" of the hobby.
